As quarterback of Glen Rock High School’s 1998, 1999 and 2000 Football Teams, Scott Stephen led his team to three consecutive Group 1, State Sectional Championships. In recognition of his incredible career, Scott was named to The Record’s All-Decade and All-Century teams.
During these three years, Glen Rock’s Football Team compiled an overall record of 33-3. Scott was 1st Team, All BPSL all three years, and was 1st Team, All Suburban, 1st Team, All County and 1st Team, All State as a junior and as a senior. In his Junior Year, he set the Bergen County record for most touchdown passes completed in a season (32) was named as Bergen County Offensive Player of the Year by the Newark Star-Ledger. That 1999 team was undefeated and set a New Jersey State Record of 580 total points scored while only allowing 30 points. It was inducted into the Glen Rock Hall of Fame in 2010.
Scott’s statistics as Glen Rock Quarterback are staggering. He threw for 5100 yards (three miles) and 64 touchdowns and ran for 2300 yards and 44 touchdowns.
In addition to his football success, Scott started on the school’s Basketball Team (he was named to the 2nd Team, All BPSL as a junior) and competed for the school’s Track & Field Team in multiple events. At the Bergen County Meet of Champions he placed sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 177 feet and 6 inches. Scott also qualified for the Group 1, State Championship in the Javelin that year.
After graduating from Glen Rock, Scott attended Franklin & Marshall College and starred for their Football Team. He started 35 of 41 career games and rolled up some impressive stats: 3rd in career rushing; 9th in career all-purpose yards; and 2nd in rushing yards in a season.
Scott currently coaches football and track & field at West Chester East High School (Pa). He and his wife Erin have an 18 month-old daughter named Cecilia and are expecting a boy in December.
