Ron Duncan

Football: Ron Duncan (1961) led the 1960 football team to an undefeated season. He played fullback and at 6” 4, 245 lbs he was impossible to stop on the wedge play. Ron went on to play football at Wittenburg College and then to the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns.

Basketball: Ron was a huge center who could score at will and was a very strong and outstanding rebounder. Ron was an All State Basketball player at Syracuse High School before he moved into Glen Rock as a junior in December of 1960. When Ron moved in the basketball team had a 3‐5 record. After Ron joined the team the final record was 19‐7.

In his senior year, Ron led Glen Rock to a 26‐1 record. The best illustration of Ron’s dominance on the basketball court are his statistics his senior year – Ron averaged 25 points, 21 rebounds and 8 assists a game.

Ron was selected to all of the All Area teams in basketball. Track: Ron competed in Shot Put, Discus and high jump in track. He held the shot put record (over 50 Feet) for 25 years. Ron still holds the Glen
Rock High School discus record – 157 feet, 7 inches.

Ron’s high jump record of 6 feet 4 inches was only recently broken.
