Michelle Leonard was Glen Rock High School’s first female Soccer Superstar.
During Michelle’s three years playing soccer for Glen Rock, she led the team to one State Championship, one State Co-Championship and one State Sectional Championship.
In 1987, as a freshman, she scored 41 goals, including the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory in the Group 1, State Semifinal game and the lone goal in a 1-0 victory in the Group 1, State Championship game.
As a junior she scored 37 goals and led the team to a Group 2, State Co-Championship as a result of a 0-0 tie in the championship game.
Finally, as a senior, despite missing five games due to an injury, Michelle scored 28 goals and led the team to a Group 1, State Sectional Championship.
Michelle was named 1st Team, All BPSL all three years, and 2nd Team, All County her freshman year and 1st Team, All County her junior and senior years. She was selected for the 1st Team, All State (in Glen Rock’s applicable group) during all three years.
Michelle ended her soccer career at Glen Rock with a total of 106 goals over three years; at the time, the second highest career total was 64 goals.
Michelle obtained her nursing degree (RN) from Bergen Community College and works at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She and her husband David live in Warwick, New York and have two children.
