Matt was an outstanding competitor and big game performer who as team captain led the Panthers to three state titles in football, wrestling and baseball.
Matt earned ten varsity letters at Glen Rock and was named Athlete of the year in 1999 – a year in which the Panthers won six state championships and received kudos from USA Today as one of the nation’s most successful high school athletic programs.
Matt’s big game prowess was never more apparent than on the baseball diamond, where he recorded 18 strikeouts and hit a big home run vs. Riverside in the state Group 1 championship game at Toms River. He also rose to the occasion in wrestling, winning the district championship as a senior and placing third in the Bergen County Christmas Tournament.
A true team player and leader, Matt was appropriately recognized for his individual achievements as well. His highest honors were All-County in football, All-Suburban in wrestling and First Team All-State in baseball.
Matt lives in Hawthorne and keeps his hand in high school sports as a wrestling coach for Wayne Hills High School.
