Leah Jerome was a soccer superstar who helped lead Glen Rock to two Group 1 Statewide titles in 1999 and 2002. She was named to the Record All-Decade team for her substantial accomplishments, which included a school record 115 goals as well as 78 assists.
Leah was a four-year starter who was named to the All-County team all four years and was a 1st Team selection as both a junior and a senior. During her senior year she scored 34 goals and had 16 assists and was selected Bergen County Co-Player of the Year. She was also named 1st Team, Group 1, All State in 2002.
Leah played Varsity Softball for three years and was named 3rd Team All-County in 2003. She also ran Varsity Track as a freshman and Varsity Winter Track as a freshman and a sophomore and was a member of the 1999-2000 Group 1 Statewide Championship team. Leah was named 1st Team All-County in the 4 x 800 for the 2000-2001 winter season.
After graduating from Glen Rock, Leah was a four-year starting midfielder on Fordham University’s soccer team (and also played at the semi-pro level afterward). She was: Fordham’s third all-time scorer; Team Captain and MVP as a junior and a senior; 1st team All Atlantic-10; and ESPN the Magazine 3rd Team Academic All-American and Academic All-District (2004 thru 2006). And in 2006 she was one of just three conference athletes to receive the 2007 Atlantic 10 Sporting Award, recognizing her for academic, athletic and community service achievement as well as exemplary sportsmanship.
Leah graduated Fordham Phi Betta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude and earned her Master’s Degree in teaching Social Studies there. Her commitment to serving the community has been commendable.
Leah is currently teaching history at Pascack Valley Regional High School and coaching soccer as she completes a Master’s Degree in history at Drew University. She continues to play soccer and has run two marathons and seven half marathons in her spare time.
