Justin Schwartz is one of Glen Rock’s greatest athletes and leaders. Justin was 1st Team All-County his senior year in Football and Track, and he captained both teams to outstanding seasons.
In Football he led the resurgence of the Football program from 1 win in three years, to a 6-3 record his junior year, and an 8-2 record and state playoff berth his senior year. Justin was 1st Team All-League 1st Team All-County and 1st Team All-State Group I all at Quarterback.He not only set the tone for the team on the field, but also in the weight room and in the classroom.
In Track Justin set the school record, which still stands, in the javelin, throwing 212-8′. Justin’s throw was the 5th best in County history at that time, and was the best that year in the county by 20 feet. He had the 25 best throws in the county in 1995 and completely dominated the event. He also ran on the 4×100 Relay that took 1st at the County Relays. Justin won the League Meet 3 years, the County Group Meet 2 years, the State Sectional 2 years, the State Group Meet 2 years, and the Bergen County Meet of Champions 2 years, and was voted the outstanding field event performer of the Meet his senior year. His senior year he was also 2nd at the State Meet of Champions, 4th at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia., and 7th at The Golden West Invitational in Sacramento.
After high school Justin went to the U.niversity of Virginia on a Track scholarship, but an injury cut short his career. Demonstrating his leadership qualities, Justin then became the assistant Throws Coach while still a student. Justin graduated from Virginia. with a double major in Philosophy and Psychology and then went on to Northeastern for his M.A. in Finance.
He now lives with his wife Maureen in NJ and works in business.
