Butch Guiffre

Football: Butch Guiffre (1965) was one of the best running backs ever in the history of Glen Rock football. He was also a tough defensive player who was a ferocious hitter as a defensive back .Butch was the most notable football player on the ’63 state championship football team (8‐1 record). He also led the ’64 team to a 7‐2 record. Butch was chosen first team all league ( NBIL ) in 1963 and 1964.

Basketball: Butch averaged over 20 points per game as a forward on great teams in 1964 and 1965. He could handle the ball well and had an outstanding jump shot. The 1964 and 1965 basketball team were NBIL league champions Most memorably, the 1965 basketball team upset Englewood (#1 team in Bergen County) in the state basketball tournament, although Glen Rock lost to Lincoln High School in the state basketball final, Butch was chosen first team all league in 1964 and 1965.

Baseball: Butch was a three year starter. He was a great outfielder with an outstanding arm. He batted over .400 in his senior year. Butch was chosen first team all league in 1964 and 1965.

Butch went on to play all three sports at Yankton College where he excelled similarly.
