The 1976 Boys’ Soccer team finished with a record of 16 wins, two ties, and two losses. The two losses were to top-ranked Verona High School who won the State Group II championship and third-ranked Hackensack High School who won the Bergen County championship. They won the school’s first soccer state sectional title and finished the season ranked second in Bergen County and 11th in the state in the New Jersey Soccer Coaches Association rankings.
The team was undefeated in the Bergen/Passaic Scholastic League while winning the school’s seventh consecutive league title. They scored 69 goals while only giving up ten goals – both records at that time – and had 12 shutouts!
Ten seniors started and five players were awarded NJSCA All-State honors and one player was selected National Soccer Coaches Association of America All Mid-Atlantic – the first Glen Rock High School soccer player to have that distinction. Three players were named First Team All-County, one for the second consecutive year, and one was chosen second team All-County. Seven players were represented on the All-League teams.
